Hey, I'm Sarah — a registered sports dietitian, BJJ competitor & coach, and passionate about culinary experiences.
My Story
Since 2019, I've been working as a dietitian. As I progressed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and started competing internationally, I felt and saw firsthand how much goes wrong when it comes to nutrition in sport.
That experience led me to specialise further and complete my degree in Clinical Sports Nutrition. In 2020, I founded Tuohy Nutrition: an online and in-person dietetic practice supporting both recreational and elite athletes.
I now specialise in strength and weight-class sports, including MMA, BJJ, Judo, and boxing. At the same time, I work with anyone looking to improve their performance, health, and relationship with food — from individuals managing medical conditions like diabetes or high cholesterol to high-performing professionals and competitive athletes.
Nutrition & Sport
Sport has always been central to my life. Growing up I competed in volleyball, basketball and track & field. Today I coach and compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the highest level — and still squeeze in the occasional HYROX or running event.
Like many female athletes, I struggled with body image and my relationship with food. Especially during my teenage years and when I entered a weight-class sport.
Over time, I learned to use nutrition as a tool for performance rather than punishment. That shift changed everything: how I trained, how I felt, and ultimately why I do this work today.
Outside of work as a dietitian, I love to train, travel, cook good meals and spend time with my wiener dog. In addition I teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Haven BJJ and run various social media platforms.
My Philosophy
Performance First
Nutrition should fuel your goals — not restrict your life. I focus on what works for your sport, your body, and your schedule.
Evidence-Based
No fads, no quick fixes. Every recommendation is grounded in the latest sports nutrition science and clinical research.
Individualised Approach
No rigid meal plans. I create practical, flexible strategies tailored to you, because no two people are the same.
Food as a Tool
I help you see nutrition as a performance tool, not punishment. Building a healthy relationship with food is an essential part of the process.
Real-World Experience
As a BJJ competitor and active athlete myself, I understand the demands of training, competing, and making weight firsthand.
Holistic Well-Being
Performance and goals matter, but so does your long-term health. We look at how to balance both so you can thrive in both areas.
